Agent setup

Lab

lab signs in to your ChromaLab account in the browser and starts Claude Code, Codex, Pi or OpenCode pointed at chroma, with no environment variables or config files to edit. It needs Node.js 22 or newer; install the agents themselves as usual.

  1. Install lab

    macOS / Linux
    curl -fsSL https://chromalab.ink/lab/install.sh | sh
    Windows PowerShell
    irm https://chromalab.ink/lab/install.ps1 | iex

Both run npm install -g https://chromalab.ink/lab/chromalab.tgz, which you can also run yourself. Run it again to update.

  2. Sign in

    Shell
    lab login
    lab doctor

Over SSH, use lab login --headless and paste the code the page shows.

  3. Start an agent in your project

    Shell
    lab claude
    lab codex --model openai/gpt-5.3-codex
    lab pi --model anthropic/claude-sonnet-4.6
    lab opencode

Your agents' own config files are left alone. The key from lab login does not expire, and lab logout only removes lab's local copy, so delete the key named lab on the API Keys page to revoke it. npm uninstall -g chromalab removes lab.
